The Unknown Soldier
I'm trying to write about a soldier. A soldier trapped in a burning Humvee just outside the wire late Friday night. That soldier died.
I don't know what else to say other than I keep thinking about the soldier and that moment. About his three buddies that made it out of the Humvee after it hit the pressure plate IED. His buddies screaming through the up armored doors, pounding on the windows.
Whatever I write seems trite, so I'll stop, and ask you to pause as well, and consider flying your flag at half mast for one day this week for that one soldier that died just outside the wire Friday night.
